Sony launches PlayStation Vita

New Entrant: Sony has finally launched the PlayStation Vita, a handheld game console, in Japan. The Vita is the biggest product launch since the PlayStation 3 console five years ago. The device is expected to heat up competition with rival Nintendo Co.'s 3DS. Let's see what all the device has to offer:

Gamers can connect over cellphone networks and Wi-Fi hotspots, and use GPS location-tracking technology.

The device is a touch-interface and motion-sensitive handheld seen as a successor to the PlayStation Portable.
The Vita has front and back cameras, a 5-inch OLED multi touchscreen in front, a touch pad on the back and two knob-like joysticks.
Sony's long-awaited PlayStation Vita portable game machine hit stores in Japan on December 17.
it will be priced at $249.99 for the Wi-Fi version and $299.99 for the 3G + Wi-Fi version in the US market.
It will enable gamers to play against each other using PlayStation 3 consoles over the Internet-based PlayStation Network.
The PS Vita will go on sale in North America and Europe on February 22, 2012.
The device comes in Wi-Fi and and Wi-Fi + 3G models. It has a 2210mAh built-in Lithim-ion battery.
