Rapper Heavy D Dies, With Heart Attack

Heavy D Rapper and hip-hop pioneer Heavy D died Tuesday after suffering a medical emergency his neighbors now say was likely a heart attack.

While details around his death are still scarce, one of the rapper's neighbors told TMZ he found him slouched against a railing in their building. Heavy D (real name Dwight Myers) was conscious and talking when an ambulance arrived, but he died a short time later. The neighbor, a designer named Adam Mills, told the gossip site the rapper told him, "I can't breathe, I can't breathe," and he stayed with him while another neighbor called 911.

No cause of death has been given at this time, but people who lived in Heavy D's building told TMZ they thought he was suffering from a heart attack. Heavy D was a highly-influential rapper in the late '80s and early '90s. His first album with Heavy D & the Boys, Livin' Large, is still considered a classic in the genre.
