The Dirty Picture  is an upcoming Film on the life of Southern siren Silk Smitha, directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor. They had earlier collaborated, along with scriptwriter Rajat Aroraa, on the hit Once Upon A Time In Mumbai .Vidya Balan ,Naseeruddin Shah, Tusshar Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi are playing lead roles in The Dirty Picture. The film will be released nationwide on December 2, 2011 on the birth anniversary of Smitha.

The story of Dirty Picture is based on life of famous South actress Silk Smitha and Rajinikanth.Vidya Balan is playing role of Silk Smitha and Naseruudin Shah is playing role of Rajinikanth.Silk Smitha who became an extra and then the most wanted heroine of the early 80s. Silk Smitha was never a heroine in South. She did vamp roles or today’s item girl. Chronicling the meteoric rise and steep fall of the erstwhile screen sensation - Silk Smitha, The Dirty Picture is set against the colorful and entertaining backdrop of the South film industry of the 80′s. The quintessential siren, Silk, knew her audiences, and it didn’t seem like anything would stop the fiercely ambitious starlet, till it did, in the shape of unrequited love. To the world, she was the queen of sensuality. But at heart, Silk was just another woman craving true love. An unfortunate encounter with deceit and infidelity led to dire consequences!It’s about her love story with a director.
