Bollywood is all about it’s stars and celebrities. And every time a movie starring a particular big name in the industry is released, the world is divided between the fans and the unfans. Of course, there are some darlings of the media and the common public who can do wrong and even if they come about in ten harebrained movies, they are still the darling of the masses, like Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan, the list is endless.
However, there are some film stars that are criticized by the audience, no matter how big a movie they star in, or how successful their movies are, or how much of applause their performances get. Here is a list of the top five most criticized actors and actresses in the industry today. These are the actors who are still not above criticisms, and a bad word here and a bad word there can still topple their standing at the box office. And then some of these are guys whose movies are destined to flop at the box office because of the negative vibes and the publicity that they get, even before the launch of the movie.
He also made an endeavor to act in serious cinema, like My Name is Khan and Chak De India and salvage some of his fan following – which was beginning to wane after his romantic gobbledygook in Dilwale and the other movies.
Now, Shah Rukh Khan is coming back with Ra. One and the sequel to Don, Don 2. We are still wondering as to why nobody in the media is even referring to the similarities between the Terminator series and Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra. One. Maybe they are all waiting for the movie to release and then see for themselves, or maybe most of the reporters ne ‘abhi tak Terminator acchi tarah se dekhi nahin hein’.
But the too much information that he started giving out about his riches, and his contracts with the producers, along with some definitely lame movies have definitely made a dent in his popularity. First came Chandni Chowk to China, which even the most subtle of film reviewers would find difficult to come up with validating points. Then comes Housefull, which though a good movie was the first to be openly criticized by the reviewers.
Then, he had Action Replayy which was basically an insult to sci fi and anyone with an IQ level above 20. He also acted in a Malayalam remake, titled Khatta Meetha which was a box office disaster. But the icing on the cake was Tees Maar Khan, which must probably be his most advertised movie, and was a debacle of career ending propositions.
He seems to have understood that it is high time that he salvages his career, and will be playing a critical role in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2, but we are yet not sure about whether he has stopped taking the audience for granted. Recently, we came across a leaked script for Joker on the Internet, and the title of the article was ‘The Jokes on You’. Though we do not believe in leaked scripts, we just pray for our once favorite hero that the script that we read – which was a mix of Swades, Koi Mil Gaya and other movies – is not the real one.
Sonam Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan have something in common. Both are children of actors and many would think that acting is thrust upon them. We do not know Sonam Kapoor as a person – for that matter we know nobody from this list personally – but we can surely say that some of her tweets on Twitter have been quite rude and unbecoming for an actress who is just two or three movies old. And for that matter, she has yet not had her ‘breakthrough’ role – that’s corporatese for a movie where she actually has to act.
She will next be seen with Shahid Kapoor in Mausam, and we love Pankaj Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor, and hope that she has a ‘breakthrough’ role in this one.
We do not yet know why people don’t like Sonam Kapoor. Is it because she is Anil Kapoor’s daughter, or is it because she has acted in some lamely written movies, or is it just because of some of the irksome tweets that brought her nature outright? Or is because all the characters that she has played have been completely detached from real life and came across as ‘rich and the famous’. But we do know that she would have been at the top of the list if not the next guy in the list.
While Himesh Reshammiya is criticized by some, a very major portion of the audience treats him like God. He is now coming in a movie titled Dumadam, with a very talented Urvashi Dholakia. The movie looks like a poor cousin of Pyaar ka Punchnama. We will want to see what this movie brings to us.

5. Shah Rukh Khan
Believe us or not, there is an entire generation that criticized Shah Rukh Khan for making women and men believe in the romantic world of Yash Chopra and Karan Johar, which never exists in real life. Of course, SRK understands that and sometimes takes some time off to take a dig at his movies from the late nineties and early double ohs.He also made an endeavor to act in serious cinema, like My Name is Khan and Chak De India and salvage some of his fan following – which was beginning to wane after his romantic gobbledygook in Dilwale and the other movies.

4. Abhishek Bachchan
Poor kid seems he cannot get anything right when the timing is wrong. He first acted in some very dud movies in the nineties, which tagged him as papa’s boy and then tried to make some movies with friends which never actually turned out as they would have wanted it to. Yash Raj and Mani Ratnam salvaged his career somewhat with Guru and Dhoom, but he again went on a downward spiral with Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Raavan. Even his most hardcore fans cannot find many validating points for his success, apart from Bluffmaster, Sarkar and to an extent Dostana. Abhishek Bachchan still stands as one of the most criticized film actor in the industry. He seems to have once again salvaged his career with a critically acclaimed portrayal in Dum Maaro Dum, and he has some movies in his kitty, like Tezz and Players that might just turn the tables around for him.3. Akshay Kumar
Make no mistake about it, even the most dedicated and faithful of women like Akshay Kumar and would want him as their man. Maybe it is the rags to riches story that makes him so famous, or maybe it the physique that gets the younger crowd, or maybe it is the man’s man attitude that he carries around that used to make him a crowd favorite. But the too much information that he started giving out about his riches, and his contracts with the producers, along with some definitely lame movies have definitely made a dent in his popularity. 2. Sonam Kapoor
Okay, let us ask you this. If you are a new actor in town, and the Indian counter part of the Razzies give you an award, what do you do? Well, Sonam Kapoor deemed herself successful enough to go on record to say that ‘she does not have the time for such things’. Which she does not, of course. This three movie old superstar/diva/glamdoll/awesomer-than-awesome girl is the face of every lifestyle product. She also made the Cannes film festival because she was the face of a beauty product.Sonam Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan have something in common. Both are children of actors and many would think that acting is thrust upon them. 1. Himesh Reshammiya
Yes, this is the guy who actually created a negative buzz about himself and him in the media. Whether it was his nasal tone, or it was his baseball cap, or his stubble, everything was roundly criticized by one part of the audience and lapped up by the other. He lost the last vestige of sympathy when he began his acting career, and the teaser trailer for his movie began with him putting down his baseball cap – like he was some Ultimo Dragon who was unmasking himself.
