It was supposedly a closed-door meeting, and our well-placed sources have it that it had to do with a film that Madhur plans to direct with Madhuri as the lead, soon after he completes Heroine with Kareena Kapoor. Talk is that the project in question is the sequel to Madhur’s 2008 hit, Fashion. He is reportedly planning it with UTV, the producers of his first ramp outing. It’s said that if everything works out well, Fashion 2 would roll in December next year. However, there is no confirmation on the project as yet.
“Madhuri and Madhur have been keen to work together ever since his first movie, Chandni Bar (2001) with Tabu as a bar dancer, released. And now that Madhuri is back in India for good, they might team up soon,” insists the director’s close aide. A while ago, Madhur had visited the sets of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4 that Madhuri was co-judging with dancer-actor Malaika Arora Khan and choreographer-director Remo D’Souza. He had said then, “If Madhuriji had not gone to US, I would have cast her in Fashion. She would have done justice to it.”
This time, when contacted, Bhandarkar didn’t deny meeting the National Award-winning actor, adding, “It’s too premature to talk about it (whether they’re working together in a film). Right now, I am only concentrating on Heroine. It’s going to be a challenging film for me.”
Madhuri, who has recently shifted back to Mumbai with her kids Arin and Ryan and husband Dr Sriram Nene, in the past has bonded well with Madhur, who will start shooting Heroine next month. She was his special guest at a screening of his rom-com Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji. She had also launched the music of his National Award-winning movie, Traffic Signal (2007).
